Wright Davies is based on a partnership between the two directors and driven by a common aim – to build high quality houses that we can be proud of and that the customer can make into a home for themselves and their family.
Common to our partnership is a passion and appreciation for good quality, meaningful design, a respect for skilled craftsmanship and a concern for the environment. We believe these qualities are important to creating great houses.
High quality, sustainable design is the act of balancing a vision with the practical decisions needed to make it work. We believe people want well designed houses that are unique, energy efficient, practical and are a pleasure to live in. For us good design is synonymous with sustainability.
We also think people want flexibility within the home, to be able to adapt it to their changing lifestyles and requirements. This takes away the need to move or the risk of being constantly inconvenienced as circumstances change.
We believe people want to know their home has been built properly and with consideration for the environment. Craftsmanship and sustainable construction is about the way design is translated on site, the standard to which it is delivered and the effect it has on the environment. It is very much about good site management, minimising waste and using materials effectively.
Achieving sustainability through good design and construction is desirable. There are multi-faceted ways to do this; like design itself these are open to different interpretations. Every project designed and built to a sustainable brief is a positive contribution to this very serious debate. It is an important issue and whilst we are not perfect we aim to do the best we can within the set restrictions-planning and building laws, mortgage lenders rules and site conditions, amongst others.
In summary designing and building houses takes a lot of material, time, energy and dedication. It therefore seems wise to do dedicate time to designing well and building properly. After all, a well built house will last a long time which is a form of sustainability in itself.
